Twelve B.C. First Nations will get a share of $530,000 from the province’s First Nations Clean Energy Business Fund for a suite of energy efficiency projects.

On the Island, the Ahousaht First Nation got $30,000 to determine potential clean energy projects to serve the needs of the expanding community, and the Tseshaht First Nation, near Port Alberni, got $5,400 for a study to assess the potential for a small wind energy project.

Since the first round of funding in 2011, the fund has provided nearly $2.5 million to 53 First Nations.
